#Rat: Farewell, Twinkie!

Twinkie (28.3.2015 (approx) – 28.4.2017

Sadly today, Friday 28th April 2017, my rat gang just got smaller. I had to have Twinkie put down as she had a tumour, and her health had drastically started to deteriorate in what seemed like no time at all.  Even if I’d kept her alive with antibiotics, the tumour had worked its way into her system fast, and was too big to operate and with a low immune system, her quality of life would have been impaired. I have to admit, perhaps from a rather selfish point of view, I couldn’t bear to see another rat go through more misery.

Below, is a picture of Twinkie, so you can see how cute she was. Sigh. I still can’t believe she’s gone. She grew into one of the biggest, most confident, well-fed rats I have ever owned. A thought, which makes me smile.

The pictures below were taken on the day I brought her, and her sister Binkie, home to live with us.

Hard to spot Twinkie, looking all nervous when we first introduced her to her new home, in 2015!

Looking for photos of this day I found it hard to find any in focus. I forgot how fast these girls were when they we so young!

Twinkie, the same day, discovering their wheel. Not so nervous now.

To sign off, I am at least proud to say that with us, our family, she did have a very happy, pampered life.

Speaking of pampering, only rat Binkie is going to get even more spoiled now…
